Since the rise of social media, the journalism industry has expanded. News reporters, journalists, and even politicians use the many social media apps to report daily news. This has made it easier and more convenient for people to find out important information going on in their community and the world.

Apps such as Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, and Instagram lay a foundation for journalism to grow and reach more people. Every day I go on my phone and I see articles on different topics. Journalists have made it more entertaining and accessible to learn about what is going on. Media outlets on Instagram may have polls to know what their viewers want to know more about. Watching the news on Snapchat can make it easier to send to a friend.

When journalists use social media they have to follow guidelines. They should be professional- never use foul language. They should be ethical and respectful of what they are covering. Don’t be biased towards your subject. News is to inform, not to persuade. They should always have reliable sources that are fact-checked. Also, they should be confidential when needed.

Social media has made it easier for news reports to reach the public in a fast and efficient way. When news reports are shared, other people can comment and share their opinions on the piece. The community comes together to listen and react to powerful news.
